Overview
Duke Energy Generation Services entered into a 20-year agreement with Union Carbide Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, to design, build, own, operate and maintain a steam generating plant to service the South Charleston Technology Park in South Charleston, W.Va. The complex consists of 651 acres and houses 381 laboratories.
The project improved the operating efficiency of the units by approximately 83 percent. The project also provided increased reliability, lower energy costs, operating flexibility, reduced maintenance costs and a significant reduction in air emissions.
