Overview

Duke Energy Generation Services (DEGS) and SUEZ Energy, in a joint venture, entered into a 20-year contract with LyondellBasell to supply steam, electricity and other utility services at the company’s manufacturing plant in Tuscola, Illinois. The LyondellBasell site produces ethyl alcohol, diethyl ether and specialty polymers used in many health care and personal product applications such as cough suppressants and analgesics.

The project provided LyondellBasell with integrated technology solutions to lower energy costs, increase efficiency and reduce air emissions. LyondellBasell was also able to realize immediate cost savings on utility services and avoid significant future capital costs.
