Overview
Duke Energy Generation Services has developed a new 30 MW windpower facility west of Cheyenne in Laramie County, Wyoming. The fourteen Suzlon turbines operate at 2.1 MWs each.
The Happy Jack Windpower project is located adjacent to the Happy Jack Landfill on property owned by the City of Cheyenne.
The Happy Jack project sells 100 percent of its clean, renewable energy to Cheyenne Light Fuel & Power under a 20-year renewable energy purchase agreement.
The project generated its first MW of electricity on July 17, 2008 with a commercial operations date of September 3, 2008.
