  • U.S. Department of Energy awarded Duke Energy $22 million in federal funds to help design, build and install large-scale batteries to store wind energy at the Notrees Windpower Project

Duke Energy Generation Services developed a new 150 MW windpower facility located in Ector and Winkler Counties, Texas.

The first phase of the project rated at 90 MW, includes 55 Vestas turbines that operate at 1.65 MWs each.

The second phase rated at 60 MW operates forty 1.5 MW General Electric turbines.

The site began commercial operation on April 1, 2009.
